This weekend I finally got back to the water. BUT the weather was so "bad" and windy. It literally took me forever to make my way into deeper water in order to catch some waves (so exhausting).

I think I can say that I am totally comfortable standing up now, the main struggle is getting enough speed. In order to have that you need to catch the right wave and have the perfect timing. Plus its usually better (I think) if you go into the deeper water. Well, that wasn't possible this weekend, but I still managed to catch some pretty epic waves - and by epic I mean 3 foot waves and being able to ride them to the mainland. We also visited a national surfing museum. Nothing special, but it was nice to get an insight of what surfing used to be like and how it became a culture.

Can I say that I live for weekends? Four free days and long walks... Especially when I can catch up with friends and family. Time difference really is a hard thing. (I need to work on my selfie game #amateur). Plus I love the weather finally. It's warm and around 25 degrees and so much different than the gloomy January weather! This is the summer I was looking for.

On Sunday I meet a friend for brunch at the cutest café I have been (so far) in MB. I ordered the "special" ricotta cake and it was best 22 dollars I have ever spent on breakfast/lunch. It was so good and fluffy, my mouth is watering again as I write this. And don't get me wrong, I love big portions and can finish basically everything, but I think this ricotta cake was meant to be shared - I still ate almost everything and left just a bit on the plate (it was just too big of a portion).

Also, I usually make the wrong decision and regret ordering something random on the main, because whatever person beside me is having looks so much better. Not this time, I have done a good job scanning the menu :) After we headed to St Kilda beach festival.

Basically, there was a little bit of everything: bands, games, dancing, exercise and food - plenty of food. We didn't know any of the bends and were not at all impressed by the ones on the main stage, but it was a nice experience to say the least. Sunday well spent.

Did you know?

... that skateboarding was (supposedly) invented by surfers to imitate movements on the water when the conditions weren't good
